Porn is a very addictive and destructive force in today's world. It is programmed to make us want more, it is designed to make us feel powerful, it is a powerful tool of manipulation and coercion. We all have porn in our life. It is a part of our daily routine and habits. But why do we keep on getting addicted? What are the reasons for this? So far, there has not been any study that deals with this subject.

Until recently, No one was really interested into studying the factors that lead to addiction or at least into studying Why some people become addicted to porn or other addictive substances (e.g. gambling).  A Journal of Research in Personality, researchers from the University of Florida examined the effects that pornography use has on the brain. They found that

Pornography use causes changes in the structure of the brain which lead to addiction and withdrawal symptoms among sex addicts. They also found that porn users were more likely to develop problems like depression, anxiety and substance abuse problems when compared with non-porn users who were matched for age, gender and education level (e.g., college graduates vs high school dropouts).

Let's now see some questions regarding this:-

What is Porn Addiction?

We all know that porn is a form of addiction, but we have not really talked about it yet. This might seem like a strange topic for a conference on marketing, but the following points are true:

1) Porn is hard to quit because it is so pervasive.
2) It takes years of avoiding it.
3) It's not as easy as it sounds.
4) You can't just slap a "no porn" label on your product.
5) It's addictive.

The first two points can be addressed with simple strategies. The last three require more targeted efforts. We need to understand Why these things work, How they work and How to avoid them. We also need to learn What makes users stay away from porn, and what motivates them.

Why so many are getting addicted to it?

Pornography is one of the biggest addictions in our society, and it's based on the fact that it's so gratifying. It may be titillating, but it is also very dangerous, especially to women. Addiction can even cause physical harm such as sexual or other physical problems with your body. Here are some of the ways porn addiction can affect your life:

Short-term Effects: I felt like I couldn't afford not to do porn during my college years.

Long-term Effects: I was physically and spiritually addicted, which caused many health issues.

Mental Health: I had a lot of trouble with my mental health; this increased stress and anxiety.

Physical Health: I had a lot of body pain and skin irritations after doing porn for a long time; this increased my risk for many health issues.

Sexual Health: I started to have severe erectile dysfunction from doing porn; this made me feel mentally and sexually weak.

How to stay away from porn addiction?

Porn is not just a sexual act but it also has many other aspects like:

1) How to make money from porn?

2) How to save time from porn?

3) How to deal with people who are addicted to porn?

4) Pornography is not just a great tool for building sexual relationships but it can be used for several other things such as:
  •  Making money from your wife/husband/partner and kids.

Conclusion

In a world ,where porn addiction is the number one cause of sexual dysfunction, it is also very interesting to see that porn use is strongly tied to sex addiction. When people feel their porn addiction has caused them to be sexually disordered, they are more likely to seek treatment for it. And that’s not a coincidence: according to researchers at Johns Hopkins, who look at the links between porn use and sexual problems, “people with a strong pornography-use disorder were more likely to have been diagnosed with an external genital disorder (both female and male), as well as being diagnosed with other mental health disorders like depression.”

This doesn’t mean that Every person who self identifies as having a porn addiction can be assumed to be sexually disordered; but it does mean that some people are.

The most important thing you can do is apply something called "the gold standard" test: do they feel their desire for pornography has caused them problems or not? If they say yes, then you should be paying attention when those issues show up in your life. But if they say no, then you should go back to your old ways and stop trying so hard to force yourself into things you don't want.
